Vabilo k sodelovanju članov izpitnih komisij za evropski ortopedski (EBOT) izpit

Evropski izpit iz ortopedije pridobiva na popularnosti. Povečuje se število kandidatov, ki izpit opravljajo, in povečujejo se potrebe za sodelovanje kompetentnih izpraševalcev. Vodstvo EBOT izpita je poslalo okrožnico, s katero pozivajo vse nacionalna združenja, da predlagajo ocenjevalce za EBOT izpit. “Dear Presidents, dear Secretary Generals,

 On behalf of the Chairman of the EBOT Examination, Professor Jorge Mineiro, we would like to take the occasion of the upcoming 20^th EFORT Congress to be held in Lisbon from 05 to 07 June 2019 to recruit more EBOT examiners throughout Europe. The number of candidates is increasing every year and we have many examiners already on board for a long time and would like to try to take some of the burden away from those and enlarge the group.

 For this reason, we would like to ask you, the EFORT National Member Associations to nominate new examiners for this European prestigious event that is becoming more and more popular and recognized all around Europe and the world. Since two years already we are also organising the oral part in Spanish together with SECOT, and over the next years more equivalent qualifications will be awarded in Europe. There are currently discussions with France, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland, who are all interested to get involved and learn from what we have set up over the past almost 20 years now.

 The Exam has been recognized as a prestigious qualification not only for the relevance of the European Diploma but also for its organization and quality of the pool of examiners. Examiners are trained to perform in the same standards under certain guidelines that are presented and divulged at the examiners course. We do expect all EBOT Examiners to attend an induction course even if they do not examine in the next yearly exam. The next course will be held during the EFORT Congress Lisbon on Friday, 07 June 2019 from 10.00 to 12.00 local time.

 Over the years the feedback we have received from the Fellows of the European Board of Orthopaedics is that they have been treated with respect and in a very professional manner. This is the best comment we can get from the candidates and we believe it is due to all the reasons mentioned above.

 At present we will need examiners in all areas (basic sciences, spine, upper limb, lower limb and children paediatrics) and would therefore kindly ask you to nominate two or three of your colleagues to become an EBOT Examiner. As far as the financial support is concerned, EBOT can unfortunately not cover any travel or accommodation costs for nominated examiners attending the course in Lisbon. For the oral examination itself, we will be happy to bear the costs for accommodation and an examiners’ dinner during the exam weekend, however, no travel costs for the time being. So please let us take the opportunity to thank you, the National Societies for your kind cooperation and the sponsoring of the travel of your examiners for this annual exam.

 For your information and to pass on to anybody interested in becoming an EBOT Examiner, the 2019 part II oral EBOT Exam will be held in Manchester, UK on from 04 to 06 October 2019. Note that in case new examiners would only come to Lisbon to attend the course but not the EFORT Congress, we will arrange access to the congress venue, where the course will be held on Friday morning.
